How to set timing on ford 460
WebAug 4, 2011 · I have a 1990 efi 460 in my motorhome. Trying to set the timing. Warmed up motor, shut off, pulled spout connector, started, set to 10*. I didn't notice any change in sound (my toyota sounds different when I short the terminals to set timing). Took it out for a drive and it just wouldn't pull. Set timing to 10* not shorted and it runs alot better. WebJan 30, 2024 · The timing pointer is on the passenger side of your timing chain cover. If you need to adjust the timing, shut it off, and loosen the bolt holding the distributor hold town tab 3/4 of a turn or so. You want to be able to turn the distributor by hand, but not so loose it can spin just from the engine running.
